2022

Game Development Begins

A Year of Testing Boundaries

We started conceptualizing Nanomoon back in 2022. We wanted to bring to life a dream of building a fantasy driven indie trading card game (TCG) on the blockchain. A mix of old school RPG games, tabletop strategy games and TGCs. A small team of creative and technical people got together and started building the basic game infrastructure. Early versions of the game were mostly just us playing around and cementing our vision for what we wanted the game to be. Early versions of image based A.I. were being developed and we we started trying to integrate that technology into the game to provide dynamically generated visuals. The results were mostly lackluster, but we felt that we were going in the right direction (today, we’ve updated the A.I. image generation tech we use and we’re very happy with the results – see the image to the right for an example. We also wanted to have a game which allowed players to try it out for free. Therefore, we needed to create more efficient game architecture. Early versions of the game were technologically bulky and therefore our team of devs had a lot of work to do if we were ever to scale beyond 100 simultaneous players. This was a year of creative and technical experimentation which allowed us to define the boundaries of our vision for an open world, player controlled, living, breathing fantasy TCG.

2023

The Game Starts to Come to Life

Getting ready to launch

During 2023 we had a solid technical vision of how we could bring our game to life. During this year we started to build the individual components, API endpoints, database structure and logic required to bring the game to life.

☑️Seamless integration with metamask (login rules based on secure signed metamask signatures) (done – March 2023)

☑️ Map movement logic / math (allowing users to move around an open world. (done – June 2023)

☑️ A.I. image generation integration (early version since upgraded) (done – Sept 2023)

☑️ Building of dynamic cards (HP, Atk, Def) which allows players to control a card’s destiny (done – Oct 2023)

☑️ Continue work on world’s lore. We designed different land types (i.e. great houses, great plains, caves, sky trails etc.) which allow players to interact with each land type in a unique way. (done – Oct – Dec 2023)

Jan 2024

  • Incorporation of second race (Legion One). Allow players to play as Legion One or Kapi’ee and have both races compete and fight for power, control and resources. Each race will have a complete lore and unique story progression.

  • Total of 4 worlds with many lands / regions within each world. At a minimum Legion One will control one world, Kapi’ee will control the game’s first world (in which Kii is the first region within this world).

  • P2P card marketplace V.1
